POLARIS is a simulation tool that had been developed since 2011 in Argonne National Laboratory through various projects. In POLARIS each component (agent) has its own (decision) model and the overall outcome emerges from their interaction. The key “agent” in the simulation is the individual traveler or person, but there are numerous other type of “agents” that takes their decision including the vehicles, the traffic lights, to name a few.
I have been part of the developing team since 2018 mainly working on the traffic simulation and control aspects.
